Miracle Orphanage Update

Updates on the new building and current news

We are finally getting our new website up and running, while ironing out a few wrinkles. Since our last newsletter, a lot has happened in the ministries we are partners with. There is much to be encouraged in, but there continue to be significant challenges as well.

Miracle Orphanage, Odisha India

Construction on the new orphanage building has been on again/off again. The main structure is nearing completion, but the roof still needs to be poured. There have been issues with the company doing the construction, due to the sudden death of the owner of the company. We are currently doing what we can to overcome those issues to see the building completed as soon as possible.

At the end of November, we were told that the children would have to be removed from their current facility at the end of December. The roof and internal work on the new orphanage will need at least 30 days to complete, as the construction begins again. That puts the children at risk of having no place to live. The orphanage Director is working tirelessly to find options for the children if they must move out of the building where they are currently living.

Compounding the need in the ministry is the pregnancy of the Director’s wife. She is due to deliver around the first part of January. She has needed medication and hospital stays over the last few months, and that is weighing heavily on the Director. She is also one of the staff members supporting the children.

In October and November, three men from Kansas City visited the orphanage along with several local churches in the area being mentored by the Director. They observed that a major ongoing need for the orphanage ministry is transportation. There are times when the Director may need to visit one of the churches he is mentoring, while a staff member shops for groceries, or works on meeting general needs for the orphanage.

The Director believes that they could function adequately with two motorcycles (which are mainstays for transportation in India). Currently, the engine of the motorcycle they were using has seized up, and it is no longer operational. As a result, the Director must often walk miles to purchase food, medication, or to take a child or staff member to get medical care.

Finally, it is critical that there be a place prepared for the 40+ children being cared for. Secondary plans have been investigated, but ideally, they would be able to go to the new facility being constructed.

More strategic plans are being developed for the orphanage and the ministry surrounding it. These plans will begin to be revealed in future newsletters, but it seemed more urgent to highlight these specific needs to begin.

"The child of God must be willing to be a channel through which God's abundant blessings flow. This channel is narrow and shallow at first, yet some of the waters of God's bounty can pass through. If we cheerfully yield ourselves to this purpose, the channel becomes wider and deeper, allowing more of the bounty of God to pass through. We cannot limit the extent to which God may use us as instruments in communicating blessing if we are willing to yield ourselves to Him and are careful to give Him all the glory."

Much is Happening

Miracle Orphanage and Liberia

Since our last post in May, the Board of Directors of M4T have been praying and seeing prayers answered in real, substantial ways. Challenge after challenge has arisen among the ministries we work with, but in each situation, God has proven faithful. We have always known that it is true that He is faithful, but to know is different from seeing His hand at work.

After the purchase of the land for the orphanage, we have seen God continue to provide the funds for the construction of the orphanage, and at this point, the only part of the building to still be funded is the roof. Originally, it was to be made of corrugated metal, but the decision was made to have a concrete roof installed. This has many benefits for the orphanage, as it will be durable, insulating, have the potential to add to the building at a later date.

The construction has been interrupted in recent weeks by monsoon season rains, our builder was in a serious automobile accident (please be praying for his recovery), as well as several medical emergencies with orphanage staff. However, through each situation, we continue to see the project progress.

At the end of October, three men will be making a trip to India to view the construction, encourage staff, minister where opportunities arise, continue to strategize with the staff, and to visit the children! Please be praying for Matt, Drew and Gary as they make this trip beginning on October 25 and returning on November 6. We are asking that God would bless the time, and that He would be glorified in it.

There is still an ongoing need to raise funds for monthly rent (until the building is complete), food for the children, and stipends for the volunteer staff of the orphanage. Our heart is to eventually be able to provide living wages for each of the individuals working with the orphans. We also believe that for the sake of security, it would be wise to have a wall built around the compound. Plans are being discussed to develop an educational program for the children as well as helping provide ongoing vocational training.

During all of this, we also have seen God provide the funds for a roof to be installed on the KC Brown Elementary School in Liberia. The walls had been completed for some time, but the rains brought about in the Monsoon season began to wash them away. The day after the funds were provided, the material for the roof was purchased and it was installed within the week. The school walls can now be repaired and completed, freeing up the ministry from the burden of an annual lease they have been paying for years.

Through all of this we are becoming more and more excited to see God's hand at work. And we continue to praise Him for what He is doing. Thank you for being a part of this answered prayer, as we continue to seek to remember the orphans and the widows in their distress.

We have been seeing the need to have a more vigorous presence on the internet. Updates from India

In our last blog post, we communicated that the orphanage in India, was going to be required to move from their current location. They were initially given two months to vacate the facility, but they requested and were granted an extension until the end of August 2023. A new property came to their attention which had been used as an orphanage until a few years ago. Negotiations were beginning for the lease of this property, however, they were then notified that it had been sold for cash and was no longer available. Finding other properties was unsuccessful because orphans are generally very low in status in the Indian culture. No one really wanted an orphanage near them, so it appeared that a dead end had been reached.

At this point, it became clear that proceeding in man's power and wisdom was not getting very much accomplished. At this time, the Board made a decision to have Movements for Tomorrow to prioritize the raising of funds in order to fully support Miracle Orphanage . This brought about a concerted focus on bringing the matter before our God, who cares a great deal about orphans (James 1:27). Because of this, it was very easy to believe that the prayers being offered up were according to His will. Also, at this time, Movements for Tomorrow's missionary, Doc Butler, and one of the major donors toward Miracle Orphanage were able to travel to and visit the orphanage. One of the goals was to see if there was any possibility to continue in the current property, or to reopen negotiations for the property that had been sold. Both of these options ended with definite closed doors.

During this time, another property, owned by a local pastor, was proposed as a possible building site for the orphanage. When the visitors from the US and the leaders of the orphanage met with the property owner and with a builder who was able to build the dormitory for the orphans, it was determined that this was an open door to meet the needs of the children on an ongoing basis. This pushed the realization of the need for prayer regarding God's provision to complete the project. Before construction could begin, the purchase of the land would need to be completed and enough funding would have to be in hand to pay for half of the construction costs. The total for this would be approximately $50,000. The timeline required to make all of this happen included the deadline to be out of the current facility and to have construction completed before the beginning of the monsoon season.

We have definitely seen God's faithfulness in providing. As of Friday, May 26, Movements for Tomorrow was able to wire $50,000 to complete the purchase of the land and pay the builder the first half of the cost to complete the dormitory. We know we will need to continue to count on God's faithfulness as the project moves forward. Additional funding will be needed to complete the building of the dormitory as well as renovating a second building on the property to function as the kitchen. Funding will also be needed for the completion of a wall around the property for safeguarding the children and staff. This is all in addition to meeting the monthly needs of the children and providing a monthly living wage for the orphanage staff. We know that our God is a big God and that He can provide. We are asking that you participate with us in prayer for God's provision to complete this building project and to supply for the monthly ongoing needs of the orphanage.

One of the encouraging resources that the Board of Movements for Tomorrow has used to help as a guide in this project, is a book entitled The Autobiography of George Muller . God used this man to build multiple orphanages in England in the mid-19th century. Muller's goal in this was to prove God's willingness to provide for His work according to His will, and that work continues even to this day. Muller wrote in his journal,

The Board of Movements for Tomorrow has seen and is experiencing along with the staff of Miracle Orphanage , the same realities that go along with trusting God to accomplish His work. Our heart and our desire is to be obedient to God's call and to trust Him for the provision to see His work accomplished in this small and remote area of the world.

Moving the Goalposts

Movements for Tomorrow will be hosting an informational meeting on April 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Red Bridge Baptist Church, 4901 E Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, MO in the building's West Wing. M4T's Board of Directors will be presenting current details of the situations facing Miracle Orphanage as well as outlining possible solutions.

Since the very founding of Movements 4 Tomorrow, the organization has been focused on providing funds for Miracle Orphanage in Odisha, India. The orphanage has been surviving on a shoestring budget through the generosity of a several monthly donors. Many times, the physical needs of the children and staff has been essentially “hand to mouth”. We have been witnesses of God’s faithfulness in providing for these children and the loving believers that have been involved in caring for them.

The situation with the orphanage has recently changed, adding to the complexity of providing ongoing care. In February, the Director of the orphanage was told that they had two months to move out of the facility in which they currently live. After some negotiation, they were given permission to remain through the end of August, 2023. This buffer of time has given the leadership of the orphanage the ability to research other options for relocating the facility. Currently, it appears that one of the best options is to lease or “rent to buy” a facility that was formerly used as an orphanage. It lies in a walled compound on about ten acres of land. In most ways, it looks like a good option. However, the facility would add at minimum, $400.00 a month to their budget.

The ongoing challenges for Miracle Orphanage include:

· providing daily meals for both children and staff,

· rent

· utilities

· monthly honorariums for the volunteer staff

· clothing, school and medical care for the children

· hiring an English tutor

· transportation (muti-passenger van)

· monthly support and housing for the orphanage Director

M4T’s goal for 2023 is to gather individuals who are willing to commit to monthly donations that will go toward, consistently and fully funding the operation of the orphanage. The proposed budget for this project is:

It’s been a little over nineteen months since Movements 4 Tomorrow (M4T) was officially granted 501(c)3 status. At that point, M4T began operating as an organization committed to partnering with Christian organizations in underserved nations around the world. To date, M4T donors have assisted with providing for orphans in India, widows and orphans in Cameroon, Christian education in Liberia and war refugees in Ukraine. In all, over $50,000 was forwarded to various ministries in 2022. We are excited about how your participation has had an effect on so many people around the world.

In 2023, we are targeting Miracle Orphanage in Odisha, India. Up to now, the orphanage has been sustained through the generosity of a few donors. These donations have allowed for the daily provision for 38 young children, many who have been orphaned through religious persecution.

The challenges for this Miracle Orphanage include providing daily meals for both children and staff, rent and utilities for the compound they are currently utilizing, monthly honorariums for the volunteer staff, clothing for the children, school and medical supplies, an English tutor, transportation, and monthly support for the orphanage Director. M4T’s goal for 2023 is to find individuals who are willing to commit to a monthly donation that will go toward, consistently, fully funding the operation of the orphanage. We would like to help with his travel expenses as he becomes our “boots on the ground”.

The Perfect Gift... Sponsor a Child

Being an orphan anywhere is more difficult than most of us can ever realize... However, there are children around the world who are experiencing that condition even as you read this. In East Central India, there is Miracle Orphanage , where there are thirty-eight children

who have lost parents due to various circumstances, including persecution of their families because they were Christians.

Movements For Tomorrow is introducing a campaign to help finance the care of these children. There are some generous individuals who have been carrying this burden almost entirely on their own. The campaign, " Sponsor a Child ", is designed to invite and partner with individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of these children. In looking at the budget required to meet these needs, we have found that it takes about $60.00 per child, monthly to fully care for them.

It is currently important that this minimum amount be raised in order to make this ministry sustainable. Even as Movements For Tomorrow is asking for partners to cover living expenses, we are also looking for ways to identify national partners to come alongside those ministering in the orphanage. We are also working to identify ways for the orphanage to become self-sustaining. That is a longer-term project. So, while these needs are being explored, there are still children to be kept safe, fed, clothed and housed.

Update from Libera - Pastor Thomas Yeeson

Hi Brethren in Christ,

This is an update about the AIBC, Association of Independent Baptists Churches.

This year conference will be held outside of Monrovia, Maranatha Baptist Church in Caldwell Township. This is an annual local conference comprising of some 52 local independent churches from all over Liberia to be held on November 22, 2022. The purpose of this conference is to win souls to Christ, or evangelize for Christ, as you know very well that the end is not only near, but is here, as you can see.

Please pray for the Lord's provision and protection for Revelation Baptist Church's members as we plan to hire a 30 seater bus for this conference. Each member attending this year conference is expected to pay a fare of $10 USD, to and from the conference, which many of our members cannot afford due to the current economic hardships. Thanks for your usual love, care, concern and ministry support directed towards God's Kingdom work in Liberia, West Africa.

Greetings,

Just over a year ago, an Indian pastor named J***** H*** came to the United States. J***** was fleeing persecution after an attempt was made on his life, and those of his family. The Spirit of God directed him into our lives, and over the weeks and months to follow, the organization “Movements 4 Tomorrow” was formed. Just like you, M4T felt a need to equip the chosen saints of God across the world, in less privileged countries than that of our own beloved America...

It has been just over one year since “Movements 4 Tomorrow” came into existence, and we

sincerely thank you for partnering with us in order to support the ministries and disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in India, Africa, and Ukraine. On behalf of them, we thank you for your prayers, financial support, and attendance at our 1st Annual Fundraising and Celebration Dinner.

Praise God- the dinner was a great success! You helped us raise over $8,000 of immediate support, which has already gone directly to support the ministries for orphans & widows in Liberia & Cameroon, and to Miracle Orphanage in India. As we are active amongst ourselves and with these organizations, we thank you in advance for your continued prayerful support. We are trying to come up with ways by which they may become self-sufficient in the form of different sustainable business models.

Additionally, Kevin is visiting another possible organization that we may be coming along side with support for. “Betha Rapha” is a small Christian organization in Huballi, Karnataka, India – one of India’s nineteen cities that is populated with over one-million people. They are an orphanage for children that society has deemed “untouchable outcasts”, because they are HIV+.
